August 14, 2012 ~ My Heart, Christ's Home

As you come to Him, the living Stone—
rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him—
you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house.
1 Peter 2:4-5

Thoughts ~

As I come to the Lord, over and over again, first through salvation and then through repentance, thankfulness, praise and prayer, I am in awe that He is a Living Stone, a Living God. He's not a golden Buddha with a silly smirk on his face, but He is the One who loves me. I have direct access to Him and don't need anyone else to help me pray to Him. He chose me and I am loved by Him. He doesn't reject me when I stumble or fail miserably in my spiritual walk.  He is always there to pick me up and show me how to live like Jesus. I love that God is building me into a person who is constantly growing and will grow until the day I go to be with Him. I am grateful that the Holy Spirit indwells inside me: My heart is His spiritual home.

Action ~

Look around your home for a stone, a rock that you like and place it somewhere that you will see it every day as a reminder of Jesus, our Living Stone, who loves you.  The rock is not only a reminder of Jesus being the Living Stone, but throughout scripture there are references to Him being our Rock. If you have some time, read Psalm 118 where Jesus is talked about as the corner stone. If you have even more time, start a list of all the times you find the word rock or stone used in reference to the Lord.

Pray ~

Lord, may I never reject You or take for granted that You are a Living God who really hears my cries, prayers and praises. Thank you, God, for your son Jesus, my Living Stone. Remind me today of how You love me and remind me to love others in the same way.

Trusting in the Lord,
Becky
