January 22, 2012 ~ Circumstances

“Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.”
Philippians 1: 12-14

Thoughts ~ As I read this passage this morning I am aware how God has used my circumstances for the greater progress of the gospel. I am complexly overwhelmed by this. I feel so loved by God that He would allow me the heart aches of divorce, of betrayal, and even the hurt as friends dropped out of my life because I stood up for the standard of the Lord and His word . . . all to be used for the growth of others spiritually through my ministry, Trust in the Lord.

I love my ministry with all of my heart but I love the Lord and His unique plan for me even more.  I wish sometimes that TITL were full time and I did not have to be concerned about finances from time to time, but figure if God brought me to it, His plan is more than I can imagine. To have over 108,000 followers on Facebook and lots on cubits.org and the Daily T.A.P. is a constant blessing, one I direct in thanks and praise back to the Lord. I do not take credit for it for it is the love of others that God has put in my heart that fires this ministry.  If I could sit down for coffee or tea with each of the readers, I would be exuberant and knowing this time will come one day in Heaven is thrilling. There is a beautiful blanket of love for them all in my soul that amazes me since I know less than 200 personally. And when readers write to me for help in following Jesus or for advice, I am kind but gently blunt, encouraging them with the truth of His word and not worldly advice. I will not soften the truth of God’s word with modern day encouraging quotes, although I post some each day with the word. But it is His word that drives me and keeps me focused on Him and not on my circumstances. I could never have a ministry like this if I were working 6 days a week like I once did. Here I sit at my little office at the kitchen table, in absolute wonder at what God has given to me three years ago.

Trust in the Lord grows slowly in some regards because I do not post photos of happy puppies and kitties or videos, nor do I sell things. God pretty much directed me from the very beginning that He wanted me to be there for each person who reached out, to encourage them and others and to share His word. But the pace is perfect for me and I have come to be internet friends with some of the readers who bless me. And so today, I thank you all for being part of the encouragement ministry as I wish Trust in the Lord a very Happy Third Birthday!
