Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
Day 21
Thoughts ~ Christmas is not about me. Or you. It’s
about Jesus . . . about celebrating the birth of the One who will give us the
most amazing gift of all: Eternity. We cannot, as mere human beings, grasp the
concept of “foreverness” with God. To imagine we will live with Him and fellow believers
for the rest of time is hard to imagine. And yet, it is there for the taking:
eternity. The perfect gift of all.
What makes a perfect gift her on earth? I think it’s
knowing what people love. My friends know I love birds as they represent Matthew
6: 25-27 to me where Jesus reminds us that God will always provide for us. This
year for my birthday I was given two cards with red birds, a gift bag with one on
it and a beautiful red bird ornament. All
from people who wanted to show they do listen to me and confirm my love of the
feathered friends. These were perfect gifts for me but for you it is probably
entirely different.
Action ~ Give
something to a friend or family member that they have always wanted or you know
that will really please them. Maybe it’s a t-shirt, a plant, a pen or a hammer.
Just think about how someone is often telling you how much they love something
of yours and try to find one for them. Giving your heart doesn't have to cost a
penny but if you have a little extra, showing someone special to you that you
do listen to them and hear them will be a gift in itself.
Prayer ~ Thank you Lord for the perfect gift of all:
Your Son!
Trusting in the Lord, Becky
