I have set the Lord
continually before me;
Because
He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
Thoughts ~ It’s the little things, the day to day little things that
bring more joy and encouragement to me than one huge amazingly wonderful event.
Perhaps others aren’t designed that way, but I sure am. I’m blessed with continuous
small surprises that remind me of God’s love and attention to me as His child.
Sparrows chirping, hummingbirds coming to feed on my patio, a chocolate lab
that greets me if we are outdoors at the same time, my Grandsons kisses. I
could list dozens and dozens of joy givers but for today, I will share one in
detail.
Last week I learned how to change the image on my
computer in the “start” button in the task bar on the far left side. I’m taking
a computer class this semester for Microsoft Windows and Office and every time
I jump into my course work, I am thrilled to learn more about my computer. There
are programs that will make my life easier when it comes to creating sticky
notes, managing files, documents and images. But the little icon in the start
window has been my favorite of all. Prior to changing it I had part of an
orange flower that came with windows 7. I never paid much attention to it at
all.
And this is what I have now: a graphic I made for Trust
in the Lord, Jesus & me.
It's a beautiful reminder, not really planned to
be one either, of Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord continually before me because
He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Even sized tiny at about ½”, it
shows up every time I go to the start window. I see this little reminder that I'm in a partnership with my Lord and Savior. I'm not alone, He is always there
and I have no reason to be shaken up. It’s also indirectly a gentle reminder to
me that I'm His ambassador, not a free spirit who can do as she pleases, when
she pleases or where she pleases. I'm loved by God Almighty and what pleases
Him should please me too.
I’m struggling as I write this, trying to help you
understand what a little image is doing in my heart. It may be small, but it
packs a powerful message that says “love others as Jesus loves you” and “Keep
watch over your mouth” and “seek peace.” It’s automatically on my desktop so I
see it when I open my lap top, before I hit the Facebook pages, cubits, email
and other places I visit. What I thought would be more “me” than a flower has
helped to serve as an important reminder as I spend time with internet friends,
do my school work and plan out my ministry graphics and blog. It’s a reminder
that I am not alone in my faith journey, Jesus is right there by my side and
ready to help me over the rocky patches and encourage me to serve Him all the
days of my life.
Action ~ Change your icon too! Find something that
means a lot to you that will also encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
Feel free to use mine. We can start a
movement J.
Prayer ~ Lord, thank you for using a little graphic to
keep my eyes and focus on you all of the time.
Trusting in the Lord,
Becky
